Tardiness Policy
The Parent/s of any student who is tardy should
notify the school by:
| 1. bringing the student to the office
to sign-in in the Tardy book |
| 2. sending a note with the child to
explain tardiness |
DEFINITION OF TARDY: Any student who arrives to school
after 8:00 a.m. is considered tardy. For the afternoon Pre-K,
the time will be after 11:20 a.m.
EXCESSIVE TARDINESS: Any student who reports to school
after 8:00 or 11:20 a.m. two(2) times within a 10 day period is
considered having excessive tardiness.
PROCEDURE: The following procedures will
be followed by the teacher.
| 1. The letter (1st notice)
making the parent aware of their child's tardiness and the
importance of being on time will be sent home. A copy of this
letter will sent to the office. |
| 2. A phone call home from the teacher to
make parents aware of our concerns and to review this policy. |
| 3. The 2nd notice - mandatory
meeting with the Principal - will be sent home along with a copy
of the Tardiness Policy. Teachers are to forward a filled out
copy of the 2nd notice to the office with all the
information filled in except the date/time. |
| 4. Mr. George Bakas, our school's
attendance officer, will be sent to the home to discuss the
legal issues of school attendance with the parents. |
| 5. Upon need, referral to the
appropriate school department and community social service
agencies i.e. Superintendent of Schools, Department of Social
Services, and the Department of Transitional Assistance. |
| 6. Any student who has been tardy will
not be eligible for a Perfect Attendance Award. |
